Rev. William Baker – Rector

The Rev. William (Bill) M. Baker is the 16th rector of Christ Episcopal Church, also known as Christ Church San Marcos. He began his ministry in Tarrytown on October 31, 2021.

Bill loves living in and serving with the people of Christ Church San Marcos in Tarrytown. He was born in Virginia and raised in Nebraska, near the Wyoming border and two hours from the Colorado Rockies. He moved to New York City shortly after graduating from high school and has lived in New York ever since—except for three years of seminary, when he returned to Virginia.

Bill has two grown children: Meagan, who is married to Nicole and lives with him now in the rectory, and Justin, who lives in Sleepy Hollow with his girlfriend, Dariela, and their daughter, Leilani. He loves being a priest but has always said that being a father was his first vocation.

Bill also shares life with his partner, and together they strive to live with faith, integrity, and joy. His beloved dog, Laddie, recently passed away, and he now shares his home with his other frisky dog, Sky.

Bill says he is a mix of every place he has lived and all the people he has known and loved. He enjoys nature and hiking in the mountains, is a huge sports fan, and cheers for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Denver Broncos, New York Knicks, and his beloved Yankees. He also enjoys good food and traveling.

Bill believes in a theology of radical welcome, where everyone—no matter who they are or whom they love—is embraced as a beloved child of God. He possesses a heart for social justice and believes his primary ministry is one of love. He welcomes you to Christ Church San Marcos and wants you to know that you have a home here.

Dr. Jiyoung Jeoung – Music Director

Dr. Jiyoung Jeoung has concertized throughout the US, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Korea.

A church musician, Dr. Jeoung has served as music director, organist, and pianist for more than 30 years. Also, she taught piano and organ for more than 20 years at various universities, including: Jilin University of Zhuhai (China), Huntington University (Indiana) Grace College (Indiana) and Ball State University (Indiana). Dr. Jeoung holds a doctorate degree in piano/organ performance from Ball State University and master’s degree from Ewha Woman’s university in Seoul, Korea. She enjoys having lots of tea.
