Newcomer's FAQ

We know that going to a new place and trying to fit in can be challenging. The purpose of this FAQ is to offer you a very warm welcome to join us for worship. We hope that the following information will give you a snapshot of who we are and make you feel at home at Christ Church.

Sunday Service Times

Normally English-language Sunday services are at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. In the summer, there's a single service at 9:00 a.m.

Spanish-language services are at 12:15, except during the summer when they are at 11:00 a.m.

Please be sure to double check our online calendar for service times on any given Sunday.

Getting There and Parking

Getting There

The church is located at 43 South Broadway in Tarrytown. South Broadway is the local designation for Route 9 (the Albany Post Road).

Parking

For Sunday services, parking is available at the municipal lot on the west side of Route 9 between Main Street and West Elizabeth Street, at the Junior League parking lot on the north side of West Elizabeth Street between Route 9 and John Street and at the Hudson Eyecare parking lot on the west side of Route 9 between West Elizabeth Street and West Franklin Street.

For weekday services, parking is available at the municipal lot on the west side of Route 9 between Main Street and West Elizabeth Street.

Street parking is available at all times. You don't need to feed the meters on Sundays.

Entry

Entry into the church is through the tall red doors facing East onto South Broadway.

Dress

There's no "dress code" for the congregation at Sunday services. Congregants can be found wearing suits or jeans and everything in between.

Babies and Toddlers

We're very relaxed about children. We normally have a couple of babies in the congregation and, being babies, they do cry and make noise. We have toddlers as well and we're used to them rampaging up the aisles, losing their toys under the pews and making noise. We just pray or sing louder and go on.

If you come with a baby or child, don't be embarrassed or mortified or even a little upset at whatever your child does. We aren't.

We've set up a special play area for the young ones and their parents right in the church; it's off on your left as you face the front of the church and has blankets on the floor, a rocking chair and other things to welcome the little ones.

If your child is old enough to be separated from you, childcare is available in the church basement. Anyone in the congregation will be glad to take you down there. This is purely your choice; you and your child are both welcome in our church.

Other Programs for Children and Youth

Information on programs for older children and teens can be found on this page.

Bathrooms

Bathrooms are located in the basement of the church. Go through the door at the back of the church, on your right hand as you face the back of the church. Go through the door and you'll see a set of stairs. Go down them. At the bottom, follow the signs.
